Not exactly Bay to Breakers, but then, B2B doesn't fall in the middle of Beer Week.
Much about beer is subjective, like what style/brewery/IBUs/glassware is best, or if a beer should taste great or be less filling. But there are a few universal truths when it comes to beer, including a) that it is awesome, and b) that it should never have the word "light" in it, which leads to c), that it is highly caloric.

While some eat to live and others live to eat, if you ever find yourself next to someone who drinks to run, watch your shoes. Begrudgingly, though, some of us actually run to drink. The Hash House Harriers have championed the concept for decades. When we plunged gullet-first into the world of craft beer, we signed up to run a marathon not for any yearning for runner's high, but to combat the onslaught of Double IPAs and Dubbels. But while running 26.2 miles is admirable, running 5 miles is a lot more doable ― and sociable. See for yourself Sunday at the Second Annual SF Beer Week Run.

As the course map shows, it's no B2B. But dig out your running shorts (if you don't have any, that's fine too) and show up at Social Kitchen and Brewery for a run to and from last year's event host, Magnolia Pub. If five miles is too long, no one will notice if you beeline it to around three. And if you find yourself actually looking forward to next year's Beer Run, you can always hash with our local chapter.

The South Bay's Derrick Peterman, who blogs at Ramblings of a Beer Runner, is taking care of RSVPs. See how many others plan on earning their beer Sunday.
