Inside Scoop talks to Nick Balla, the former Nombe chef who's taking over the kitchen at Bar Tartine when Chris Kronner leaves, and finds out that under his direction the classically Californian restaurant is going to skew Eastern European. (Balla lived in Budapest for three years.) 

Grub Street reports that the Edge, the man's man's manbar in the Castro, has closed. All men's men wandering around the Castro should now report to 440 Castro.

SF Citizen has spotted its first announcement that the new Whole Foods on Stanyan will be celebrating opening day on Feb. 16.
