The past 72 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

The rumors have turned out to be true: Mollie Stone's is taking over at least one of the DeLano's IGA stores that closed at the end of the year. Grub Street reports that the Castro location (4201 18th St.) will turn into a third S.F. branch for the tony grocery store, though there's no word yet on when. What with the coming Whole Foods stores and the closing of all the Calas/IGAs, SFoodie does wonder: Are San Franciscans who don't have money for high-end cheeses and imported mustards screwed?

Another Grub Street report: Today is the first day for Caffe Pascucci (170 King, at Third St., www.caffe-pascucci.com), the Italian cafe chain opening its first United States location. The pitch: Italian coffee, light eats from Chad Newton and Frank Klein.
