Cost: $15 plus a dish to share; includes olive oil tasting and one glass of wine with dinner
The rundown: Cook like the nonna you always wanted to have for this potluck organized by Slow Food San Francisco and Club Dine In!, organized around Jessica Theroux's book Cooking with Italian Grandmothers. Naturally, you're expected to make a recipe from the book (let them know which one, so there aren't a dozen pappa al pomodoros competing for praise). There'll be a screening of a Theroux short film about one of the grannies from the book and an olive oil tasting. And hey, if you're really into it, no one will turn you away if you show up dressed like an Italian grandmother. Go for it.
