That permit-spotting Grub Street reports that Jay Foster, who owns Farmerbrown and Little Skillet, is taking over 1795 Geary (at Fillmore) and calling it The Library. Grub hopes it'll be a bar with events and Southern food, we've heard a cafe. We'll see what Foster says when he finally goes public about his plans.
Another restaurant on the way, this one reported on by Eater SF and a little closer to opening date: the Russian Hill/Polk Gulch branch of Toast (1601 Polk, toasteatery.com). The pitch: California-ized diner.
Two notes from the finer realms: Tasting Table SF noted that Fifth Floor has relaunched its new menu, this one now fully under the control of new chef David Bazirgan. And Inside Scoop says that Terra, Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani's St. Helena restaurant, is adding a bar with a bar menu.
