The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Inside Scoop says that Tacolicious is set to open a second branch at 741 Valencia, the former New College building. The pitch: Same fusion-taco menu as the Marina restaurant, as well as a tequila bar (named Mosto) and a spit for traditional tacos al pastor. In rather similar, but vaguer, news, Eater SF reports that the Beretta-Starbelly-Super Duper owners are planning a tequila bar and Mexican restaurant in the Mission; they won't reveal the location yet.

Tablehopper passes on more information about Debi Cohn's forthcoming Mission bar, Asiento (2730 21st St.), which should open in the old Monkey Club sometime mid-December. Cohn was the GM at Ramblas and has worked at Colibri and La Mar as well. The pitch: casual bar with tapas. Will it serve tequila as well? One hopes.

Courtesy of Inside Scoop, we learn that Ed Carew is leaving his post as chef de cuisine of Cafe des Amis. Last month, guest Weekly critic Matthew Stafford wrote that he liked Carew's more creative dishes but not the French bistro classics ― the ones Cafe Des Amis is supposed to specialize in.

Scoop reports another chef change, and this one's a bit of a shocker: Chef Nick Balla is leaving Nombe at the end of the year.
