The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Eater SF can now say with relative certainty that the Marina izakaya Chotto (3317 Steiner, 441-2223, chottosf.com), whose projected Monday opening was unexpectedly delayed, opened last night. Since SFoodie has not seen any posts to the contrary, we're going to believe it actually happened.

Eater SF also reports that a Russian Hill bar named Black Sheep (2032 Polk, at Broadway) will open this weekend. The pitch: neighborhood bar with small snacks and cheese plates from nearby Cheese Plus. It is not connected to Black Sheep Pub, the Mission gastropub Alex Jackson (The Corner, Parada 22) is hoping to open. [12/10 UPDATE: Cheese Plus says it is not supplying cheese to Black Sheep.]

Lest you think this city was short on wine bars, Inside Scoop brings word of another one that's should open any day now: Barrique (461 Pacific, 421-9200, barriquesf.com). The twist: It serves wine from the barrel ― up to 18 barrels at any one time.

Inside Scoop learns that Eos, whose longtime chef departed a few months ago, has promoted former chef de cuisine Michael Roon. Roon plans to continue in the tradition of founding chef Arnold Wong, and the shiitake mushroom dumplings aren't going anywhere.
