Amber Dara to Open in the Mission, Chris Daly Purchase of Buck Tavern Really Happening

Categories: Buzz Machine
The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Eater SF reports that the owner of Amber India chain, Vijay Bist, is taking over the space at 680 Valencia to open Amber Dara. The pitch: regional Indian dishes with local California ingredients and affordable prices. Bist hopes to open by the summer of next year.

When our sister blog, the Snitch, found out from SF Appeal that outgoing supervisor Chris Daly is really going to buy the Buck Tavern (1655 Market) after the deal was rumored to be kaput, Joe E. called up Daly to learn more. Daly says he's going to be behind the bar ― and that he plans to rename the tavern Daly's Dive. (Why not Chris's Cantina? or The Daly Drink?)

Eater SF also reports that Kirk Webber's 20-year-old Cafe Kati (1963 Sutter) may be closing, to be replaced by something called Roostertail Rotisserie.
