Vegan Pumpkin Tamales at Papalote

While the menu at Papalote is as meat-centric as any other burrito place, the restaurant does periodically bring out some vegan specials. One example is the vegan adobo burrito that gets unleashed during occasional "Mexi-Pino" days, and there's currently a vegan tamale filled with soft cubes of locally grown organic pumpkin. It contains zero lard, of course, which we can't say we miss.
These are pumpkin tamales sweet enough to stand in for dessert, yet restrained enough to work as a main. Fleeting as a Shamrock shake, they're available weekends through Thanksgiving at Papalote's Mission location only.
