Think the Bay Area already has enough food media? Time to reconsider. Today NBC launched the Bay Area edition of its food site The Feast, under the editorship of SFoodie contributor Tamara Palmer. The first Feasts went beta in New York, Miami, Chicago, and L.A. last February; the S.F. site is the 11th in the network. Feast aggregates content from other food blogs, intersperses original content that skews heavily video, and sprinkles it all with Feast Rank, the site's proprietary restaurant scoring system (Eater dubbed it "a Rotten Tomatoes for the food world") ― it uses an algorithm that blends reviews from professional critics and opinions from amateur bloggers into a handy ranking. Feast's daddy: Ben Leventhal, the guy who founded Eater.com. Welcome to the frenzy, Feast.
