Lafitte's enhanced BLT shows up at lunch, and at the restaurant's monthly midnight suppers.

We're huge fans of three-letter acronyms: JFK, PBJ, OMG. They're so expressive, in their own condensed way, we can't think of any reason to improve them. Recently, however, we had an enhanced BLT that changed all of that for us. The bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich is a classic, sure, but the version served up at Lafitte adds foie gras to the mix. Upgrade! Creamy foie gras with the contrast of crisp bacon, a juicy slice of heirloom tomato, and fresh lettuce make it a real winner.

Lafitte's decadent sandwich usually appears at lunch, but you can also find it on the not-so-secret midnight menu served the first Saturday of the month, and sometimes more often than that. (For those of you without calendars, that would be this Saturday, Nov. 6.) Also, we just heard from CRJ (chef Russell Jackson) that the West Side Story crew will be there this Saturday, chowing down on your new favorite midnight snack. Foie gras BLT made by CRJ! FTW!

Lafitte: Pier 5, the Embarcadero, 839-2134.
