Is Ike getting the last laugh?
Looks like Ike's Place might be trailing lines along 16th Street in the Castro after all, according to Eater guest editor Laura Beck. After an eviction struggle sticker than a steering wheel smudged with Dirty Sauce, owner Ike Shehadeh has applied for a permit for 3489 16th Street (at Sanchez), the old Joseph Schmidt storefront, half a block from the original Ike's Place. The space was last home to Saratoga Chocolates. From Eater:
[Ike's] got a date with the San Francisco Planning Department on December 16th and whether or not he moves into the space will be based on a decision from the city. If approved, he'd move in by January 2nd, 2011.

Two things: First, the old Schmidt shop isn't exactly sprawling. Why can't Ike just pony up for adequate square footage? And we assume that, like's the last Ike's Place, 3489 16th Street isn't rocking an exhaust hood. Just sayin', Planning Department.
