| Twirl & Dip's first appearance at UN Plaza was today. |
Today's scorching heat forced us to search for something refreshing at the
UN Plaza Off the Grid to help us cool down. The answer came in the form of a truck serving soft-serve ice cream, root beer floats, and fruit-sicles. SFoodie had
previously reported on Meg Hilgartner and Siri Skelton's Twirl & Dip truck's public debut back in June, when they hadn't yet installed their soft-serve machine. Hilgartner and Skelton couldn't have chosen a better day to make a first appearance at OTG.

| The chocolate-vanilla twist. |
After briefly perusing the blackboard menu, we chose the soft-serve vanilla-chocolate twirl, served in a handmade cone ($4). We got instant gratification after the first lick, so we continue lapping our treat on our way back to the office.
The crisp, buttery handmade cone was a cut above regular waffle cones. Previously, the truck has been roaming around the South and East Bay while waiting for approval of a location in the Marina area (no news on its status yet). It has departed from the UN Plaza by now, but anyone else in need for some cooling down can find the truck this evening at OTG Upper Haight (Stanyan and Waller streets) from 4 to 9 p.m.
