The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Thrillist reports that yesterday was day one for Smokin' Warehouse Barbecue (1465 Carroll Ave., 648-8881). The pitch: All your favorite smoked meats, plus coffee and breakfast dishes in the morning.

Marcia G. at Tablehopper reports that Tataki, the sustainable-sushi restaurant, has launched a spinoff named Tataki South (1740 Church, 282-1889). The pitch: more sushi, plus yakitori and more veg and vegan options.

Also noted by Tablehopper: David Bazirgan is moving from Chez Papa Resto to Fifth Floor. And in the sweets realm, she says that Thermidor's Kyle Caporicci is returning to full-time duties at Campton Place, and Suzanne LaFleur is replacing Sarah Ballard at Perbacco.

One last Tablehopper note: Marcia G. learns of plans to open a cafe named Mirtille (87 McAllister) in the Civic Center area near the end of the year. The pitch: Cafe with French leanings.
