Mission Pie's Krystin Rubin.
Mission Pie's fourth annual pie contest is set for Sun., Oct. 17, and the call for competitors is officially open. Both sweet and savory entries are welcome. We recently judged SF Food Wars' Pie or Die battle with Mission Pie co-owner Krystin Rubin, so we know firsthand that it takes a lot to impress this very knowledgeable lady when it comes to baking the perfect pie. She hasn't officially been named as a judge (only last year's winner, Kurt Gross, has been given a seat on the four-member panel so far), but we imagine she'll probably be in that mix.

Prospective contestants have until Oct. 15 to register; it's free and there's space for 30 competitors, which translates to a lot of potentially good tasting opportunities for the crowd.
