The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

It always happens: Yesterday, SFoodie was faced with a dearth of restaurant gossip, while today we have a surfeit:

Paolo L. of Inside Scoop comes through with the big celebrity-chef news of the day: Jeremy Fox ― former chef of Ubuntu, almost-chef of Plum ― is now working for Tyler Florence as the creative director of Florence's restaurant group, which is in rapid expansion mode. Right now, that means the Wayfare Tavern. Next up: Rotisserie & Wine (710 Main St., Napa), followed by El Paseo (558 Sacramento, SF).

Eater SF's Carolyn A. has lots of details on the actions of Michael Mina and his restaurant group, who are ready to open Bourbon Steak (355 Powell, 397-3003) in the Westin St. Francis on Thursday. The pitch: the Mina group's steakhouse concept, only California-ized.

Eater SF also notes the opening next Tuesday of a branch of Freshii (230 Bush, www.freshii.com). The pitch: Customizable wraps, salads, soups, other healthful eats. There is a menu posted online, but it may be confusing at first glance, since it's in Canadian.

Also, Eater reports that No Worries (1442 Franklin, www.filipinoveganfood.com) finally opened on Friday. However, it was a soft opening, which means that you should request food in your softest voice and only give the chef warm fuzzies. The pitch: Vegan Filipino.

Meanwhile, Grub Street's Jay B. finds word of a new restaurant named Ma'velous (1408 Market) set to open in November, with a young chef from Sacramento, all the ethical qualities you expect of a San Francisco restaurant, and Intelligentsia and Ecco coffee.

The Examiner (via Grub Street) reports that SFO is losing four pre-security restaurants ― Andale, Just Desserts, Firewood, and Lori's Diner ― and gaining more security screening stations.

Other Scoop news... Out: Paolo Laboa, chef of FarinaIn: Elizabeth Falkner as consulting pastry chef at Epic Roasthouse.
