Last Call for the Chinatown Night Market

Smaller than some night markets, but a good source for boba teas and knickknacks.
October 9 is the last scheduled evening for the Chinatown Night Market Fair. This small night market pales in comparison to the huge multiblock events of Vancouver, Hong Kong, mainland China, and many other Asian countries. But it's an enjoyable way to spend an evening strolling around Chinatown, especially since the current forecast promises pleasant weather.

Portsmouth Square, the site of many historical events and a popular filming location for movies like Dirty Harry, will be filled with stalls peddling assorted knickknacks, boba milk teas, Asian snacks, handmade crafts, paintings, souvenirs, and cheap knockoffs. Some of the live entertainment caught our attention at a previous Night Market, in particular two bands using traditional Chinese instruments. The retired seniors demonstrated amazing talent performing old Chinese ballads.

Show up and say goodbye to the Chinatown Night Market, a mini taste of China without the travel cost.

Chinatown Night Market Fair
When: Sat., Oct. 9, 6 -11 p.m.
Where: Portsmouth Square, Clay and Kearny Streets
Cost: Free
