Arizmendi on Valencia Preps for Opening with Sporadic Freebies

​Depending on who you talk to at the soon-to-open Arizmendi on Valencia, the bakery will be ready for business anywhere from a week to 10 days from now. Another source was overheard saying (in Spanish) that Oct. 13 is opening day. This morning, a guy who told SFoodie he's a trainer from the Inner Sunset Arizmendi on Ninth Avenue was handing out free scones and pastries to passersby. Similar freebies have popped up in recent days (we spotted some on Monday morning). The handful on offer today included a cheese roll or fruit scone with apples; wolverines and pizzas are likely to make their appearance at the official opening. As for ownership structure, Sandy Guevara explained that each worker at the Valencia location is a co-owner for that location only.
