Plow Set to Sprout on Potrero Hill
There's more restaurant news percolating on Potrero Hill. Ruby Wine owners Maxine Siu and Joel Bleskacek reckon they're less than two weeks out from launching Plow, their breakfast and lunch spot at 1299 18th Street (at Texas). Bleskacek and Siu live in the neighborhood. "There's no place to sit down for breakfast on Potrero Hill," he tells SFoodie. 
The breakfast and lunch spot is from the team behind nearby Ruby Wine.
The couple met more than decade ago when both worked at Oliveto, then at 42 Degrees. Siu, who worked under Paul Bertolli and Michael Tusk way back when in Oakland, will oversee the kitchen. For breakfast, that means lemon ricotta pancakes, brioche French toast with caramelized bananas, Nueske's bacon, buttermilk biscuits with house-made sausage gravy, coffee from Equator. Lunch will skew sandwich (slow-roasted pork on Acme soft rolls, fried cod with remoulade), plus other entrees ― like braised short ribs with gremolata and creamy polenta ― Bleskacek calls classic American.
The name? A farmland idyll, starting with a huge photo mural of a red barn from photographer Kelli Yon. "We wanted to bring a little bit of bucolic country into a pretty hard city," says Bleskacek. Hard, but not that hard. Partly since Bleskacek and Siu have two kids, they've decided not to open for dinner, though they do plan to host private events, including ― once ABC licensing is wrapped up ― monthly winemaker dinners.
