Tonight: Launch Party for Nirvino Beer-Rating iPhone App
We knew we wanted to join the legion of smartphone users when we discovered Shazam, the application which tells you what song you're hearing so you never again have to say, "Oh man, I wish I knew who sings this song." For oenophiles, perhaps the must-have app is Nirvino, the best selling wine app consisting of reviews, average retail prices, availability, etc. So it's about time beer-o-philes got the same kinda love.
Launching tonight at Pedro's Cantina, the Nirvino beer ratings app (available only for iPhone users for now, with a Droid-friendly version to come), it promises to "put one million beer ratings at your fingertips," beating out the beer app race ahead of the two most popular online sites, Ratebeer.com and Beeradvocate.com. The launch party is free for those who flash the app on said iPhones, or who drop a $5 donation at the door to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
In case your personal handheld app is empty, nine breweries (three from out of state and six from the Bay Area) will be on hand to help fill the gap: Grand Teton, New Belgium, Black Star, Anchor, Linden Street, Thirsty Bear, Moylan's, Trumer Brauerei, and Drake's.
