Paolo L. at Inside Scoop learns that Derreck Johnson has signed the lease on a second location for Home of Chicken and Waffles, which started off intending to be a Roscoe's franchise but has found success on its own. Johnson's second Home will be at 1653 Mount Diablo Boulevard in Walnut Creek. Watch out, Casa Orinda ― Johnson's fried chicken offers some stiff competition.
Scoop also notes that Winona Matsuda, who last owned the Choppers sandwich shop, has bought Pizza Nostra (300 DeHaro, 558-9493, www.pizzanostrasf.com) from Chez Papa's Jocelyn Bulow, but plans on keeping the same menu.
