This Weekend's Brews on the Bay: You're At a Beerfest. On a Boat

Categories: Beer, Events

This weekend, the S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien welcomes the seventh annual Bros on the Bay, er, Brews on the Bay, at Pier 45. What better way to celebrate the San Francisco Brewers Guild and its seven brewing members than paying $45 (in advance, $55 at the gate until it sells out) for unlimited samples of their beers ― over 40 to choose from, provided the kegs don't kick (and you can be sure some will).

Food is provided by Orson, but it's not included in the price of admission the way food is at other area beer fests costing the same. As you can tell, we're Brews skeptics, though its popularity is proof that there are a thousand people here who enjoy the experience of waiting in line for the very same beers they could sample any ol' time, provided they had access to a WWII Liberty ship. Sure, the same cover charge for the fest could get you about nine pints (that's over one and a quarter per brewery!) if you spent the day doing a brewery crawl, but then that nautical-themed pashmina afghan you'll be wearing sure would look silly. Just watch the video.

Seventh Annual Brews on the Bay

Where: Aboard the S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien, Pier 45, Fisherman's Wharf
