Alexander's, Addie's Pizza Pie Open; Big Nate Gets a New 'Do

The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

First off, opening this week are several restaurants that we (like many) have covered: Alexander's Steakhouse (448 Brannan, 495-1111, www.alexanderssteakhouse.com). Addie's Pizza Pie (3290 Adeline, Berkeley, addiespizzapie.com). Una Pizza Napoletana (210 11th St., 861-3444, www.unapizza.com).

Jay B. of Grub Street checks in with the group of Neldam's Bakery workers who took over the old bakery, recently reopened as Taste of Denmark (3401 Telegraph, Oakland), although it's apparently offering a broader Taste of Oakland in terms of the selection.

Carolyn A., the eater in Eater SF, uncovers the reason Big Nate's BBQ (1665 Folsom, 861-4242, bignates-sf.com) has been looking in flux. Matt Sturm and Chris Cronk of Solstice/Fly Bar have joined Nate Thurmond in the business; they've renovated the room and revamped the menu.

Then it's on to the far-in-the-future news:

Paolo L. of Inside Scoop peels back the window paper to learn that the the owner of the Wine Bar is opening an as-yet-unnamed restaurant at 3131 Fillmore, next to where Atelier Crenn will be. The pitch: small plates and wine. No word on chef or schedule.

Grub Street also learns that the former manager of Ramblas, Debi Cohn, is taking over the Monkey Club and turning it into Asiento (2730 21st Street). Does the paint job stay or go? That's all we want to know.

Scoop also reports that Gary Rizzo, the owner of the Somerset Restaurant on College Ave. in Oakland, is going to return the Kwik Way (500 Lake Park Way, Oakland) to operation, sans drive-thru.
