The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the
San Francisco restaurant scene.
Carolyn A. at Eater SF scores a copy of the menu at the new
Addie's Pizza Pie (3290 Adeline, Berkeley), from Sweet Adeline's Jennifer Millar and Doña Tomas's Thomas Schnetz. The pitch: New York-style pizza with seasonal California toppings, as well as Midwestern frozen custard for dessert. All signs from the twitterverse seem to point to a Sept. 12 opening. JFYI: The first Yelp (four-star) review for the place was posted in
April.
Inside Scoop's Paolo L. reports on a couple of staff changes: After less than a year,
Erica Holland-Toll leaves
Ducca, the restaurant at the Westin hotel; she is replaced by Craig Boon. And
Jennie Lorenzo leaves her executive chef position at
Fifth Floor after 14 months. What's the HR equivalent of a feng shui consultant? Because it seems like the Fifth Floor needs one.
Also
from Mr. Scoop, the flooding at
Prospect was severe enough to require a huge section of the floor to be replaced, and the restaurant will be closed until Sept. 11. Our thoughts are with the staff who find themselves with an unexpected two-week hiatus.
Talking about chef changes,
Eater SF, in step with the other major food-gossip sites, reports that the Absinthe folks have hired Justin Simoneaux to be the chef of
The Boxing Room (399 Grove) in the old Citizen Cake space. The Louisiana-born Simoneaux, last of the
Moss Room, plans on giving the menu a Cajun/Creole cast. Also moving to the Boxing Room, which isn't going to open until later this year, is Moss Room GM Zach Pacheco.
