What to Drink at Tomorrow's SF Street Food Festival

Until recently, most Americans considered eating on the street a desperate act of necessity, or the result of drunkenness on a Hasselhoffian scale. On the eve of the second annual La Cocina-sponsored SF Street Food Festival, things are different. Tomorrow's celebration of street consumption will feature a vast choice of food, but also enough bars to ensure drink choices well beyond malt liquor in a paper bag.

In true San Francisco style, the Street Food Fest is setting up three bar gardens for the multi-block event: one at Folsom between 25th and 26th Streets, a second at Treat directly across from Garfield Square at 25th, and the third on 25th Street between Shotwell and Folsom.

The compact drinks menu highlights the refreshing and the tasty:

Classic Daiquiri: Flor de CaƱa, fresh lime juice, cane sugar ($8)
Paloma: El Espolon reposado tequila, fresh lime, grapefruit soda ($8)
Street Food Julep: Wild Turkey rye, mint, cane sugar ($8)

Wine from Sutton Cellars and Williams-Sonoma Wine Club ($8)

Tecate in a can ($4)

Mixing up drinks at the bars you'll find plenty of familiar faces from Rye, Beretta, the Alembic, Bourbon and Branch, and beyond. There will be no cash for drinks at the bars, so get your tickets before you wait in line.
