1. The story that dominated the past few days of SFoodie coverage was the Eat Real Festival, which takes place in Oakland tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. We wrote about the
festival's scavenger hut,
how to survive,
what to drink,
the pickle competition, and the
homebrew competition. Because you didn't have enough street food last weekend, and because you really wanted to know how to roast your own coffee beans at home, and because you want to see
John Birdsall and a score of other local writers talk about street food (in just a couple hours!), you're going, right?
2. SFoodie drinks columnist Lou "at Large" Bustamante writes about a Clock Bar bartender who was
fired for comping other restaurant-industry members who came in for drinks. The firing has reverberated around the city, and has many bartenders wondering how much they should be giving away.
5. And in honor of the first hot day of the year, I posted a list of
10 cold things besides ice cream to eat. If we're lucky, I'll have reason to consult it again before winter.
