Five weeks, five guest sandwiches.
It killed for Tacolicious. Why not Pal's?

Starting Wednesday, Mission sandwich monger Pal's Takeaway is rolling out a local celebrity series, featuring a signature sandwich designed by one of five San Francisco chefs. Up first: Josh Capone, Orson sous chef whose breads are some of the best in the city. Capone's contribution: roast lamb, with chickpea purée, roasted eggplant, and greens, on bread ― ironically ― that's yet to be determined. Pal's Jeff Mason says the Capone-wich, like all offerings in the series, will run for one or two days. Check the Pal's Takeaway Twitter feed for updates.

Next week, it's Chris Cosentino's turn, with a reprise of the Incanto chef's Mess Piggy. On Aug. 25, Humphry Slocombe's Jake Godby steps up; on Sept. 1, Dynamo Donut's Sara Spearin; and on Sept. 8, Gialina's Sharon Ardiana.

None of the chefs in question is expected to be slinging sandwiches in person, mind you. Though something tells us that in some cases ― Cosentino and Godby come to mind ― their presence will scream through the roll.
