The past 24 hours in gossip, innuendo, and cold hard facts about the San Francisco restaurant scene.

Carolyn A. at Eater posts an update on the forthcoming Fatted Calf shop in Hayes Valley (320 Fell, www.fattedcalf.com), which owner Taylor Boetticher hopes will open mid-September. The pitch: Boetticher's French-style charcuterie as well as sustainably raised meat and sandwiches.

As a side note, Eater also says that Farina's new pizza place is delayed until October and that a Castro wine bar that was supposed to be named Cork will forever remain a gleam (or is that a sliver?) in its owner's eye.

Kathleen R. at the East Bay Express breaks the news that that House of Shields' former owner, Alexeis Filipello, is opening Bar Dagwood Dogwood in downtown Oakland (1644 Telegraph, to be precise). The pitch: "A comfortable, working man's bar," Filipello told the Express.

Paolo L. at Inside Scoop puts out word that Paisan (2514 San Pablo, Berkeley), from the Lalime's team, opened yesterday. The pitch: California pizza and cocktails. You can get the details from John Birdsall's July report on Paisan. (A pizza place called Paisan? From the owners of the wittily named T-Rex?)
