The Tortilla-Free Zone of New Street-Food Vendor Nosh This. Casey's Pizza, Too

​Most of San Francisco's recent wave of casual restaurants and street-food vendors have been hawking food in some form that appropriates either the taco or the burrito. So this weekend, we were lured by the prospect of sampling some completley tortilla-free grub from Nosh This, a new street-food sweets vendor.

We encountered Nosh This owner Kai Kronfield in a corner of Garfield Park on Saturday. Kronfield is a self-described "bad half-Jew making good food for good people." He opened his cooler to reveal bags of snack-size fudge and marshmallow confections on a stick, butterscotch and Irish coffee, each priced at $2 to $2.50. We chose the latter, a cube of Bailey's Irish Cream-flavored fudge skewered together with a homemade marshmallow. It was a clever, vaguely Jelly Belly combination. Other tempting recipes in Kronfield's arsenal are chocolate-dipped bacon brittle and rocky bacony road. We love bacon.

​He'd also brought a pot of liquor-spiked chili sitting on a portable cooker, to satisfy those with heartier appetites. For the price of a bowl ($6), you also got a cornbread muffin.
