Jeremy Fox Abandons Plum, Bumzy's Opens

Breaking news from Paolo L. at the Inside Scoop: Jeremy Fox (you know, the chef from Ubuntu) has abandoned his plans to be the opening chef for Plum, the new Oakland restaurant from Daniel Patterson (you know, the guy from Coi); looks like something else caught his eye. The chefs tell the Chron they're still bros, but Patterson's stuck working the pre-opening dinners and Lauren Kiino (you know, the chef from Il Cane Rosso) may step in as Plum's opening chef until moving over to Bracina, Patterson's long-delayed Jack London Square restaurant.
From Mr. Scoop, we also learn that Spruce has named second-in-charge Ben Cohn as its new executive chef. Cohn's worked at a number of local four-stars and has been running the kitchen of late, so there should be no change in quality.
And Carolyn A. at Eater SF reports that Bumzy's Cookies (1460 Fillmore, 346-3222, www.bumzys.com) is opening. The pitch: Cookies and ice cream sandwiches. Isn't that all you need?
