The monthly Homegrown Marin Market debuted in July, and returns Saturday with extended hours to accommodate the positive response. We enjoyed the copious sampling and hot food options last month; there were lots of canned and jarred items, cupcakes, cookies, and the like, many veering off into left-field ideas such as nasturtium pesto (Mo Foods) and rock shrimp chips with shaved chocolate (Kitchen Sidecar). The market is held in an art gallery and its back lot. High ceilings and ample space make it feel uncrowded, even when lots of people are there.

HMM runs at the same time as the SF Street Food Festival tomorrow. It might be a breezy alternative for anyone determined to keep north of the bridge, or who isn't looking for a massive, multiblock event.

Homegrown Marin Market
When: Sat., Aug. 21, 3-9 p.m.
Where: Studio 333, 333A Caledonia (at Litho), Sausalito
Cost: Sign the membership waiver in advance; $5 at the door
