Argue on your own time whether the Spice Kit guys belong with Ravi Kapur, Corey Lee, and James Syhabout. The August issue of San Francisco magazine has house food scribe Josh Sens waxing all Dawn of a New Age on the handful of 30-year-old chefs San Francisco posits as the new guard of Bay Area cooking. Mostly, what defines these new chefs is the way in which they wriggle free of standard definitions. Instead of chasing trends, they follow their own interests, leaving us to wonder where they'll take us next.
