Dinner Takes Off at Local Mission, Skool, Radius. SFoodie Asks: Where Next?
![]() |
First off, SFoodie has learned firsthand from owner Yaron Milgrom that Local Mission Eatery has dropped the twice-a-week, pop-up-style dinners. Starting Friday, Jake and Shauna Des Voignes (technically, she's Knead Patisserie) will serve a more traditional à la carte dinner menu Wednesdays through Saturdays, 5:30-10 p.m.
More dinner news: Marcia G. of Tablehopper reports that as of today, Radius (1123 Folsom, radiussf.com) is also (and finally) open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday nights. And Carolyn A. of Eater SF says that Skool (1725 Alameda, www.skoolsf.com), which opened for lunch a few weeks ago, is doing it too. Is this whole "eating at night" thing becoming a trend? You'll know it's true when the NY Times Style section documents it.
Other staff changes to enter into your mental database: Marcia G. reports that Katharine Zacher (Bruno's, Broken Record) is now pastry chef at Bar Tartine, and Al Petri is leaving the running of Alfred's Steakhouse to his son, Marco. Meanwhile, Paolo L. of Inside Scoop learns that Jared Gallagher has left the kitchen at Oakland's Lake Chalet, and former Lulu chef Jared Doob has stepped in to oversee the food at all three Chalet restaurants.
