Bar Tartine Takes Over the Space Next Door, Locavore to Open
![]() |
Marcia G. of Tablehopper reveals that Bar Tartine's Chad Robertson and Elisabeth Prueitt are expanding into the space next door (the Hideo Wakamatsu store) and installing a brick oven for breads, pies, and roast meats. The expansion will also give them more seats.
Marcia G. also gets the details on Locavore (3125 Mission), which is expected to open in September. The owners are Cesar Cruz and Mario Duarte, and the chef is Flora and Nectar alumnus Jason Moniz. The pitch: 39-seat restaurant with midpriced menu featuring whole-animal, local-seasonal-etc. cooking and a West Coast wine list.
Mission Loc@l discovers that Crepe House (1132 Valencia) has just opened, the third location for this local chain. The pitch: No information yet; pretty sure the menu will be the same as the Hayes Valley location's.
Other details noted by Tablehopper: Oakland's Hibiscus opens for lunch Wednesdays through Fridays. Meanwhile, Just for You, in Dogpatch, closes for dinner. (Holy #$^#. Is Just for You really 20 years old?)
