CUESA Summer Cocktail Night an Excuse to Eat ― Er, Drink ― Your Veggies

As children, many of us came to mistrust savory drinks as con jobs to make us ingest some hated vegetable.

To help us overcome our stereotypes, perhaps, CUESA and the United States Bartenders' Guild have challenged local bartenders to express the savory cocktail in new ways, using local summer bounty. If you tried the pea cocktail by Gather's Tina Marie Brandelli at CUESA's spring event, then you know the creativity will be both surprising and delicious.

At $33, it's an amazingly accessible event considering the quality and variety of goodies available to taste. Included in the price are to full-size signature cocktails made with Auchentoshan Single Malt Lowland Scotch Whisky and Russell's Reserve Small Batch Bourbon, and eight sample-size drinks with Blue Coat Gin, Combier Liqueur d'Orange, FAIR Vodka, Leblon Cachaça, Neisson Rhum Agricole Blanc, Tequila Fortaleza, Tres Agaves Tequila, VeeV Açaí Spirit, and Wild Geese Irish Whiskey.
