Eat Pastries, Save Mountain Gorillas at SF Vegan Bakesale

There's never a time when we aren't looking for an excuse to throw down on some baked goods, but we almost feel it's our civic duty to do so when it means saving animals, as in the regular SF Vegan Bakesale extravaganzas. This month's edition will give all proceeds to the mountain gorilla protection efforts of Virunga National Park and the local critter triage provided by WildCare. Local vegan cooking/baking luminaries including Brassica Supperclub, Violet Sweet Shoppe, and Sugar Beat Sweets will be joined with normally omnivorous supporters such as Bike Basket Pies and Evil Jerk Cart for an abundance of sweet and savory selections.

Part of a worldwide network, there's been some significant achievement with this localized event (and its East Bay counterpart). These Bay Area efforts have already donated into the five figures towards animal welfare charities in under a year.
