Eco Food Tour Cruises Berkeley's Gather, West Marin Farms
Trust us, your smartphone and a Google map will not save you in the no-signal hills of West Marin, but Bay Area Green Tours is offering a food and farm tour that sounds like it won't leave you lost. ![]()
Maïa Cybelle/Flickr On the itinerary: Devil's Gulch Ranch in Marin County.
A biodiesel-fueled bus will ferry you to Devil's Gulch Ranch, County Line Harvest, and Quetzal Farm, though it starts with a literal forkful of breakfast clear across the bay in Berkeley (at Gather, same place the tour ends). Speakers from the California Alliance of Family Farmers, Sustainable Agriculture Education, and the Berkeley Student Food Collective will discuss the agricultural landscape and food justice, especially as they relate to the local economy and history.
Spokeswoman Marissa LaMagna told us the Farm to Fork tour will be an experiment. If all goes well, there'll be a tour of the Brentwood farming area in August, as well as a progressive dinner series.
