Dear Tartine: I Take Back What I Wrote About Your Sesame Bread

Redemption tastes sweet. And a little nutty.

The day this post went up last month, chronicling my futile attempts to get a loaf of Tartine's sesame bread, a friend texted me something along the lines of "Idiot, just call a day ahead." (The actual wording was more polite than that, but the meaning was clear.)

"You'd think they would have spelled that out to me the first or second time I tried to buy it," I texted back. The insult to his beloved bakery stuck in his craw, though, and last night he brought me a still-warm loaf of the bread. A bit of intel came with it: Tartine now makes the sesame bread every day they bake bread (Wed.-Sun.) instead of every other day. And you can buy it by the half-loaf. (Full loaves cost $7.) You still have to place your order a day or two ahead, but now I am fully informed.

Today: redemption toast for breakfast. I'll forgive you, Tartine, if you forgive me.
