RN74 Spinning Off a Seattle Branch

rsz_rn74.jpg
It has been a good month for RN74, Michael Mina and Rajat Parr's wine bar and oenophilia-oriented restaurant, where even the chef is a winemaker. A few weeks ago, RN74 made it to the finals of the James Beard Awards in the Best New Restaurant category. And now it's having a baby. Er, cloning itself. Do restaurants reproduce via mitosis or autogamy? SFoodie has not taken a biology class in several decades.

The Seattle Times' Nancy Leson reported today that the Mina Group is strongly considering opening a second RN74 in downtown Seattle (the city's a go, the location and final concept are in flux). Despite the original location's $4 million interior, is this going to be the cloneable Mina restaurant? Are additional RN74s planned? The Mina Group, perhaps observing a Victorian discretion around the topic of reproduction, will not say.
