If you like the notion of eating and drinking to help kids learn, chances are you'll love Show Dogs' Thursday fundraiser for the San Francisco City Academy, the Tenderloin elementary school. The $20 entrance fee gets you mini versions of the house specialties (organic duck and Italian sausages, onion rings and BBQ fries) at Gayle Pirie and John Clark's upmarket mid-Market wiener emporium. Beer, in the form of 21st Amendment, Lagunitas IPA and Scrimshaw Pilsner, is also on the bill. Live music, too.

Event details:

Date: Thurs., March 25, 6-8 p.m.
Location: Show Dogs, 1020 Market (at Golden Gate), 558-9560
Cost: $20 (pay at the door)
