Permits Approved for Baker & Banker Pastry Shop
In his January review of Baker & Banker, SF Weekly food critic Jonathan Kauffman expressed a mad crush on pastry chef Lori Baker's butternut squash cobbler and XXX chocolate cake. Come June, the rest of us just might be able to fell the same love Kauffman felt, only without having to make a reservation at the Lower Pac Heights restaurant. The city just approved permits for Baker's standalone pastry shop, which, according to PR rep Rebecca Harkinson, should offer breads and sweets like the ones in the restaurant. Details are still sketchy, but Harkinson suggested Baker's shop would be on Bush, around the corner from B & B's front door at 1701 Octavia, and that restaurant and pastry shop will share kitchen space. And considering that Baker used to make the bacon peanut brittle for Humphry Slocombe, we're expecting similar packaged goodies, too ― a huge boon for the neighborhood. Not to mention the rest of us.![]()
