This Weekend: Outside In #3, Filipino Street-Cart Fest in Daly City

The timing couldn't be better: Less than two weeks after Mercury Lounge announced its new Filipino street-food night, inadvertently teeing off the street-cart community in the process, the long-planned Outside In #3 takes place this Saturday at Mink Bar in Daly City. And it's bringing together almost every Filipino street-cart vendor in town.

An event to benefit the St. Anthony Foundation and Childhope Asia Philippines, Outside In #3 segues from an all-ages indoor picnic to a late-night party with a long DJ lineup.
The brand-new SinigangSF cart just announced he's dropping out, but Adobo Hobo, Lumpia Cart, and Wandering Kusina are representing. Gobba Gobba Hey has been tweeting about the ube (purple sweet potato) gobs he's working on, Papalote will be selling its adobo burrito, and we suspect Soul Cocina and Kitchenette will be rising to the occasion by offering Pinoy food.

So if you really want to see how Filipino street-cart food compares to Mercury Lounge's street food, it's only an 8-mile road trip from one bar to the other. Let us know how they stack up.
