Daffodil restaurant in the Orchard Hotel might fly beneath the radar, but next week's fundraiser for the Daffodil Days campaign to raise cancer awareness deserves some local attention. Chef Jeramiah Wheeless has created a dinner prix fixe ― the organic-friendly restaurant will donate 10 percent of the total bill of patrons who order it to ACS.

"As the first flower of spring, the daffodil is a symbol of hope," explains the ACS Web site. "To the American Cancer Society, it represents the hope we all share for a future where cancer is no longer a life-threatening disease."

Daffodil will also gift customers who order the special with a bouquet of fresh flowers; bet you can't guess what kind. Menu and more details after the jump.

Menu:

  • Spinach salad with shaved fennel, blood oranges, toasted pecans, and Champagne vinaigrette; or farmers' market soup

  • Oven-roasted chicken breast with homestyle fingerling potatoes, Blue Lake green beans, and citrus glaze; red wine-braised short ribs with mashed potatoes, lemon and chili flake broccolini; or risotto with wild mushrooms, leeks, truffle oil, and Parmigiano-Reggiano

  • Seasonal dessert
