Liba Falafel Truck Vying for Spot in Golden Gate Park
Liba Falafel Truck owner Gail Lillian is meeting with city officials today in a bid to snag a contract for food sales in Golden Gate Park. Lillian submitted an application last fall, after Rec and Park put out a call to potential vendors interested in park sales. Lillian is bringing food samples to City Hall today, to serve to parks property manager Nick Kinsey and other department heads. In January, Rec and Park commissioners voted to extend food-sales contracts to pushcart vendors.![]()
L. Chong/Yelp Owner Gail Lillian (pictured) wants a coveted spot near Cal Academy of Sciences.
Lillian says she's seeking a contract to park her colorful truck Saturdays at the California Academy of Sciences, a coveted location due to high visitor traffic. Lillian says even if she were awarded the contract, it wouldn't affect her weekday schedule (Mon.-Tues. in Emeryville, Weds. and Fri. in S.F.). "I feel really relay loyal to my locations as it now stands," Lillian says, adding she thinks the Liba truck would serve as a draw for city residents in a spot inundated by out-of-town tourists. "It would bring a lot of locals to the museum," she says.
