Omnivore's Edible Art Contest Challenges Chefs to Render the Classics
Every year on April Fool's Day, in celebration of the life of proto-food critic Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, there are Edible Book festivals and contests all around the world. The spirit has finally landed in San Francisco, which is participating for the first time this year. Host Omnivore Books has stretched the definition a bit, creating a competition of edible art as a whole ― whether you want to render Mona Lisa in licorice whips or attempt the Bible out of beans, this will be the contest to enter. No advance sign-up is required; just bring your best to the party that evening. Details after the jump.
