J. Birdsall The kaabli chana-lamb curry combo at Rotee Express.
One of those good news/bad news things. The good: This steamtable spinoff of Rotee in the Lower Haight serves up the rich taste of Indo-Pak stew cuisine in the office-block desert near Rincon Center, land of Lee's. The bad: It's a steamtable spinoff of Rotee in the Lower Haight, where the kaabli chana (stewed chickpeas), lamb curry, and precooked naan can seem as faded as the washed-out color on the DVD of Bollywood flick Delhi 6 splashed on the flatscreeen. But hey, the dining room is cheerful, and the buttery basmati holds up well.
