From the cow dung-littered fields of Vacaville comes a new sort of pie altogether ― with roots in Texas, nearly 1,600 miles from Solano County. As of this morning, an enterprising Craigslist vendor is hawking Texas-style sweet potato pies, which typically taste like well-spiced pumpkin pies, albeit earthier and a little more luscious, in our humble opinion. We haven't verified the quality but someone should. Pick up a baked one for $8.50 or have it delivered for a small extra charge. You can get frozen ones for $8. Some might even prefer buying the filling alone for $6 to pipe into their own pastry shells.
