Rec and Park Finalizes Street-Food Vendors for City Parks

The new face of S.F. street food? An Annie's hot dog cart in Golden Gate Park.

Golden Gate Park:

As we reported earlier, La Cocina -- a small-business incubator -- is expected to act as de facto manager of cart sales in its spaces at Justin Herman and Dolores, allowing its members to station those carts. Annie's, of course, operates dog and pretzel carts at the Powell cable car turnaround and a few other spots in the Union Square area, and already has a stand at Civic Center Plaza. La Colombe might be the Philadelphia-based microroastery with a distribution office in Dogpatch, whose wholesale clients include Fifth Floor and Aqua. A cart in Justin Herman would represent its first retail footing in S.F., a potential Blue Bottle rival. SFGate says the carts are expected to roll out at the beginning of summer. Meanwhile, the winning businesses will have to iron out operating hours and other details.
