J. Birdsall A la recherche de game days past.
Some restaurants you imprint with certain memories gleaned from your first meal there, impressions reproducible no matter how different the reality of later visits. Which is to say that a grilled cheese with tomato soup at Paragon weeks before the first pitch at AT&T still has the bite of game day, the frenzy of flagging the bartender for a second martini all mixed up with the nutty tang of mixed cheddars, juxtaposed with the sweet-sour bite of tomato soup. Even when there're only three guys at an otherwise deserted bar, lazily glancing up at the closed captioning on Outside the Lines.
