Owner Jay Foster Taking Over as Chef of Little Skillet
If you've been wondering who'd be taking over the kitchen at Little Skillet from bounced chef-manager Christian Ciscle, the suspense is over. This morning, owner Jay Foster told us he's now manning the neo-Southern SOMA takeaway. Saying he thought it was time to take the food up a notch, Foster's influence is already being felt in specials a tad more complex than those during the reign of Ciscle. (Case in point: today's po'boy of short ribs, leeks, aïoli, and pickled cabbage.) Foster said his involvement at Little Skillet won't change anything at Farmer Brown (he's chef-owner there, too), where for the past four months chef Bryan Black has been running the day-to-day. Foster's new initiative to put his thumbprint on Little Skillet ― and bring the food more in line with FB ― suggests there were creative differences with Ciscle, who departed earlier this week.
